Jack let out a laugh, “Oh come on Princess. You can’t really believe that can you?”

“Shut yer mouth Frost. An’ Ah’ve told you to stop callen me that.” The red head said, glaring daggers at the winter spirit.

“Come on guys, really?” Hiccup started, looking up from his sketch book to see the bickering teens. “Do you two really have to fight every time we get together?”

“Hey! I don’t do anything!” Jack said throwing his arms up. “I just said hello! And then she rattled off into I don’t even know what! I’m the victim here.”

“Oh please Frost!” The girl yelled, “You didn’ jus great me, you insulted me and threw a snowball at me!” Merida growled. “You are no victim.”

“Oohhkaaay~” Rapunzel cut in, “How about we change the subject?” She asked with a smile, “What does it mater now? Come on, we don’t always get to hang out all four of us, so lets enjoy it while we can.” The blond said, looking between Jack and Merida.

“Only if he apologizes.”

“Ladies first.”

“Jack.”

“Okay fine, I’m sorry.”

“Good.”

“…Merida.”

“Fiiiine, Ah’m sorreh too.”

“Good! Now hug and make up.” Rapunzel said with a wide smile, Hiccup only laughed and shook his head.

“Ah’m not hugging him, Ah’ll freeze.” Merida said, crossing her arms.

“I can control my powers you know.” Jack said with a slight frown, “You wouldn’t freeze you’d just get a little cold.” He explains, “I don’t want to hug you anyway.”

“…Guys.”

The two let out identical annoyed groans then quickly hugged each other then pulled a part. Jack went over and sat next to Hiccup to inspect what he was drawing.

“Awww, what cute love birds.” Merida commented sarcastically.

“At least I have one.” WHACK. “Oww! What the hell?” Jack cried rubbing his head.

“Be happy it was the bow and not an arrow.” Merida said and walked away from them.

Jack grumbled and rubbed his head, Hiccup moved over and inspected the hit.

“You’ll live, just a head ache.” The burette said with a nod.

“But it huuurts.” Jack whined, “Kiss it and make it betterrrr.” He wrapped his arms around the smaller boys torso and leaned on him, pressing his face into his chest. Hiccup chuckled and rolled his eyes patting Jacks back.

“For a guardian you’re a big baby, you know that?” He said and kissed the white haired boys head gently.

“So? It gets me what I wa-“

“Will you two please stop being all lovey dove?” Merida groaned. “Jack’s a baby we get that, come on don’t make me watch this.” Jack stuck his tongue out at her but sat up, stealing a quick kiss from the other boy, earning another annoyed groan from Merida which made him grin.

“…Now you’re only kissing me to annoy her.” Hiccup commented raising an eyebrow at him. “I don’t know if I should allow that.” He teased. Jack made a face at him then looked over at the girls.

“So, where’s Flynn at? Doesn’t he usually hang around?” Jack asked Rapunzel.

“Yeah, but he had other things to do, plus Merida kinda intimidates him.” She giggled softly.

“Good.” The red head smirked.

The group started to have idle conversation, laughing and cracking jokes. Jack and Merida still picking at each other but laughing the whole time.

“…so I told Sandy to put him to sleep and when he woke up his fur was dyed completely pink.” Jack said with a wide grin. The others laughed.

“Ah’m surprised he hasn’t beaten you to a bloody pulp yet Frost.” Merida snorted, shaking her head.

“Oh beleive me he’s trie-” Jack froze as he heard something, his face getting an odd look.

“…Jack, you alright?” Hiccup asked looking at him confused.

“…Frost?”

“Jack?”

The boy shook his head and got to his feet, grabbing his staff and looking around. The others got a worried look on their faces. “Jack, what’s going on?” Hiccup asked, “Come on, answer me.”

“…I feel something…but…it can’t be…” The sprit said his eyes searching through the trees. Merida frowned and pulled her bow ready, not sure what he heard but not wanting to take any chances.

“Toothless! Come on bud!” Hiccup called over to the dragon who’d curled up a little way from their group. The Night Fury got up and went over. Rapunzel cast a nervous look around and got closer to the group.

A dark laugh filled the clearing, seeming to come from everywhere at once.

Jack’s eyes widened and his grip tightened on his staff. “…no…” He whispered.

“It’s nice to know you still remember me, Frost.” The voice echoed around

Jack grit his teeth together, “Pitch…Hard to forget, what are you doing here?” He asked, spinning around trying to find the nightmare king.

“Have the guardians not taught you your manors?” Pitch laughed, “They obviously haven’t improved your wardrobe, still tattered clothes and shoeless.” He commented, “You think they’d take better care of their precious new member.” He laughed again.

Jack growled looking a bit more franticly. “What do you want Pitch?” He said, “You can’t just be here to insult my choice of clothes.”

“Oh Frost, I just wanted to meet your new friends.” Pitch said, emerging from the shadows behind them. “…You and the little Viking? Now, isn’t that just interesting.” He grinned wickedly.

They all turned and faced the man, Jack moving more in front protectively.

“Go away Pitch, you know you can’t beat me.” He said, pointing his staff. “I’ve gotten stronger.”

“You think I would come here, still weak?” Pitch asked with a dry chuckle. “You’re over confident Frost, that will be your downfall.” He snapped his fingers and Jack let out a surprised cry as nightmare sand shot out from his own shadow and knocked him away from the group and tied around him, his staff rolling away. The others tried to run forward to help their friend but nightmares appeared to block their way.

“Yes, you’ve gotten stronger.” Pitch commented, walking up to the younger spirit. “But you’re useless without your staff now, aren’t you?” He grinned and easily pulled the boy up by his hair. Jack winced and struggled more.

“Wh-what are you planing?”

“Oh, you’ll see.” Pitch chuckled and dragged him to his feet, his fist tightly entangled in the white locks. “Say good bye to your friends, you won’t be seeing them again.” Pitch laughed and turned him so he could see them still trying to get to him, even Toothless seemed desperate to get to him. “But you’ll see the guardians, and…well if things go right, you’ll even see your precious sister.” The man chuckled, feeling the panic surge through the boy. “Lets get started then?” And in an instant Pitch, Jack, and the nightmares were gone.

The three looked around widely. “No…” Rapunzel whispered, covering her mouth with her hands.

“Jack!” Hiccup yelled in a panic, his eyes wide as he looked around. He rushed over to Jack’s staff, no trace of frost on it without its owners contact. “No no..Jack…this isn’t…” He picked it up and hugged it to his chest. Toothless came up behind him and wrapped his tail around him, trying to comfort him as best he could.

“Damnit Frost!” Merida yelled, throwing her bow down and kicking the ground. “You damn guardian thinking you had to be in front…” She grit her teeth and shook her head. A dead silence came over the group

“The guardians…” Rapunzel finally said. “We have to find them and tell them…we need to warn them..” She wrung her hands together. “They’ll know what to do…”

Merida nodded, “Yes…just…how do we get to them?”

“Toothless and I.” Hiccup said, getting to his feet and wiping his eyes on his sleeve, gripping the staff tightly. “We’ve been…they…well, wanted to meet me once they heard about…us..” He said glancing to the side.

“For once your relationship gets us some where!” Merida said, mainly trying to lighten the mood. “Come on then lets go!” She pulled Rapunzel over to Toothless. “The faster we get going the sooner we can save Jack.” She said.

Hiccup nodded and looked back at the dragon, “Think you can handle two extra people bud?” He asked. Toothless snorted at him and crouched down, ready to let him on.

“I’ll take that as a yes, come on!” Merida said, helping Rapunzel on after Hiccup had gotten up then pulled herself up.

“Hope you guys like the cold, we’re going to the North Poll.” Hiccup said, handing Rapunzel the staff a bit hesitantly

“On with it dragon boy!”

Hiccup laughed slightly but nodded and soon they were in the air, heading off towards the workshop.
